Recently we published a blog post on diversity in which we discussed being different<\/a> and the consequences that come with it – good and bad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today we would like to introduce a lightbox that thematizes being different<\/a> away from demographics and culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Being different, a matter of style?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Those who look different are different – seems to be the most simple definition. Since always people try to part from others through their looks – sometimes subtle with a different style and others more extroverted by flashy tattoos. This will forever stay the same but also being different has become more and more socially acceptable over the years. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not too long ago it was only punks who would dye their hair green, and today it is hipsters that want to receive some attention. Being different by looking different is no longer a political statement but an individual form of expression. It is a good thing to be honest because it makes the world a little more colorful at times.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Generation different<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The generation hipster, mostly Generation Y, is known to be different. It has become a usual circumstance. Nobody is impressed or even shocked by a banker with a full-grown beard and tattooed sleeves anymore. Maybe it is the previous generations that still wonder but even in those generations there have always been curious people, as being different has always aroused interest. The lyricist Irina Rauthman once stated something quite suitable:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe it is the previous generations that still wonder but even in those generations there have always been curious people, as being different has always aroused interest. The lyricist Irina Rauthman once stated something quite suitable:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201eI love the otherness of people who live their lives authentically. Those who present their character by their looks, clothing and other visible signs. I love their doings and their way to live like their not bothered by what others might think. I love the realness even if it doesn\u2019t fit into my view on the world.\u201c<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mass trend individualism<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Today being different doesn\u2019t have to mean looking different. It rather means breaking with social structures as we know them Traditional role allocations are defined in a new way – or they are not defined at all. We combine different concepts of living and do everything as it suits us. It\u2019s possible wearing a suit or having five face piercing – as a man, women or gender neutral. It is the times we live in. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
