Who are the adventurers of our time?

Who are the great adventurers of our time? Looking back on the generations before us the question is answered quickly. We all know the stories of Christoph Kolumbus who discovered America in 1492 or Sir Edmund Hillary who was the first man to set foot on the summit of Mount Everest together with the sherpa Tensing Norgay in 1952. 1960 August and Jacque Piccard became the first people to dive as deep as 3.000 meters in a submarine called „Triest.“ The foundation of modern deep sea diving was set.

In the race for space adventurers and pioneers like Juri Gargarin, the first man in space, and Neil Armstrong, first man on the moon, made their footprints on our timeline. All of that before the beginning of the 70s.

Can we be pioneers after all?

Humankind’s urge for exploration and development leaves the image that every stone on earth has been turned, and the question remains how our generation can still call themselves adventurers. With the help of technology, we dive deeper, bridge longer distances and even skydive from space – Records are set to be broken, but this doesn’t make us pioneers. The question remains – who is our generations Rheinhold Messner, telling stories from his many adventures for generations to come?

We write our own story

Our world is open and linked more than ever, which leaves us with an obvious answer to our question. It’s ourselves, looking for adventures on many small trips and other occasions. It is not the great spirit of discovery from the past which is in focus but the connectivity and our handling of new media, creating new angles whenever we go outside. We keep the logbook in our pockets, always ready for the next picture post or tweet and by that we let everyone take part in our small adventures – in real time.
