“What will the future bring?” At the turn of the year, most people are certainly asking themselves this question. Even the greatest optimists have to admit that we are living in challenging times: International conflicts, social tensions, economic uncertainties and environmental issues are drawing worry lines on the foreheads of many of us. But it is up to us to decide how we want to react to this basic feeling of uncertainty: to pull the covers over our heads in fear – or to look ahead with courage and consider how we can and want to shape the future.

We think so: Right now, we need visual messages that give people confidence in their own scope for action! Because times of crisis also bring opportunities: they force us to leave our comfort zone and activate our potential for innovation and creativity. At the same time, the value of the tried and tested is rediscovered and tradition and innovation go hand in hand. “Shaping the future” is therefore the theme of our Trend INSPIRES for 2024.

In view of the increasing complexity of our lives, people are longing for orientation, reliability and security. Authenticity and credibility are therefore highly topical core concepts that everyone who wants to reach their target group with strong visual messages must keep in mind – regardless of the topic or product. This is the only way to build trust. And this is a basic need for many people, especially in view of the many half-truths and untruths spread virtually.

The desire for solidarity, social responsibility and shared values is also becoming increasingly apparent in our highly individualized society. In a present that is experienced as crisis-ridden, the “we” is becoming more important than the “I”. People are moving closer together because they sense and recognize that the tasks of the future can only be mastered together. This is not just about averting danger and overcoming problems – it is also about social rethinking, a new community awareness and dealing responsibly with the rapid pace of technological progress.
