My Style always changes
“Lifestyle photography aims to capture real-life in an artistic way while working to maintain an organic feel.” So it says on Pete Mullers Website. A statement we can only agree to is still new. Pete is still fresh on board with Westend61. Yet, the London-based lifestyle, action, and industrial work specialist is still a new face at Westend61 but has already left his mark on our portfolio. He works with multiple clients across the globe, making his experiences an excellent upgrade for our Stock Photography community. Once more, this is reason enough for us to play the seven questions, seven answers game with him!

Hey Pete, thanks for your time. You know the drill already, so let’s get right to it. Who are you in 3 words?
Hi Westend61, thanks for having me. Let’s get started: Photographer, Sportsman, and Entertainer.
Did photography teach you a life lesson? What was it?
There is no eye-opening lesson here. But one thing I’ve learned in life is that if I have to spend a lot of time doing something, e.g., work, it better be something I love doing.
How did you get into stock photography?
I got curious once I assisted a photographer that did loads of stock. I tried it and ever since stuck with it.

What is your favorite picture, and why?
It’s a sports shot that got me into the AOP Awards. I love the photo’s feel, grit, and energy.
For which image did you have to leave your comfort zone?
I never really feel a shot has yet taken me out of my comfort zone. I feel confident in every situation, as I’ve done such a variety.
What is the one photo you want to take by any means?
I would describe my style or technique as ever-changing. The same goes for the aesthetics I fancy. Therefore, I come up with new ideas about what to shoot quite quickly. Sometimes I act on them, sometimes not. So there is no specific image I have in mind right now.

Show us a photo from our portfolio by another photographer that inspires you. Why does it?
I like this shot by Philipp Nemenz. Well, there are so many to choose from. But this one made me feel like I wanted to go for a nice break, a walk in the country. I look at the picture and think this is precisely what Philipp wanted it to be. The color palette works well. The girl’s eye line, her smile, and the soft lighting make it a beautiful composition. Plus, it has left enough space to one side for plenty of text – perfectly suited for an outstanding campaign.
