From one side to the other

Anna Bizon knows both sides of the stock photography market. As a graphic designer, she has repeatedly purchased royalty-free stock images for her clients’ projects. Now she is the head of the creative collaborative Gpoint Point Studio based in Dębica, Poland. She explains how this came about in an interview and talks to us about inspiration.

Let’s start!

Hi Anna, to give the audience a clearer image, may we ask you to introduce yourself as Anna and as a photographer?

Of course! Hi, I am Anna, and I am a professional photographer. In the beginning, it was “just” a job for me, but it became the job I love, and at this point, I can’t even think that I could do something else in my life. I am a passionate traveler and a food lover. Exploring visually and regarding taste inspires me in life and my work. And then, I am an absolute dog lover! My beloved dog, who passed away last year, taught me many things about how to be patient and joyful. I would not want to miss that.

Did photography teach you a life lesson? What was it?

Photography is a life-long lesson to me. I learn every day to improve my skill set as I want to evolve. It’s patience again and being open-minded working with many different people that are my two main learnings, both enriching my work in power and creativity.

How did you get into stock photography?

It started over ten years ago. I was basically “on the other side “of stock photography, working as a graphic designer. For many projects, I bought images from stock agencies. One day, I decided to produce pictures on my own, so they perfectly matched my client’s needs. At first, Gpoint Studio was a small business. But over the years, it kept growing as needed help to face rising client demands – not that I complain 🙂 Now I’m working closely with a fantastic team, and we produce much content for our clients, images, and graphic designers alike.

What is your favorite picture and why?

I like this shot I took in Munich. It was my first time there forur years ago. I found this location at the perfect time of the day. I deeply admire the combination of the lighting and the geometry.

For which image did you have to go out of your comfort zone?

I was about to shoot photos in Vietnam. Beforehand, I had to organize all shoots online, and it got a bit tricky with scouting locations and finding models. It was the uncertainty that felt like going out of my comfort zone, not having everything right in front of me from the get-go. But in the end, I checked the locations one day before shooting and found just the right spots for the pictures that I wanted to take. After all, everything went pretty well.

Can you name the most exceptional setting or moment for you to take a photo?

It’s this moment that a mother was breastfeeding her child. To me, that is a very intimate moment. When we shot it, it was hushed, and there was a strong feeling of trust between the models and myself, creating a comfortable atmosphere.

What is the one photo that you want to take by any means?

I think every image could be unique in technic, aspect, or emotion. Maybe when I feel I have achieved everything I could imagine as a photographer, it would be nice to be able to say, “wow, that is my best shot ever! “

Show us a photo from our portfolio by another photographer that inspires you. Why does it?

Not easy 🙂 At Westend61, many photographers inspire me. Most of them produce high-value content with great models and locations. Therefore, I’d like to ask people to let their thoughts ponder and type in anything in the search bar and look at the pretty images that will show up.

What a nice note to end this interview on. Thank you, Anna!
