Space Hype: Why Astronauts on the earth surface are trending

The space race reached a new peak this year, Jeff Bezos vs. Richard Branson, and Elon Musk for the whole world. As with all significant events, we experience an impact on the stock photo market. Back in the summer of 2019, we reported on SpaceX’s long-term settlement plans on Mars. But for the time being, the innovative enterprise is mainly known for its Starlink program, a fleet of satellites placed in the lower orbit to achieve an optimized global broadband Internet connection.

Such technical developments are primarily intended to support economically poorer nations and promote their growth and development. Meanwhile, however, astronomers fear the increasing number of flying objects buzzing around in the night sky will interfere with their work. They also point to the increased risk of crashes due to the swelling volume of air traffic in orbit. And against the backdrop of the climate debate, Bezos’ and Branson’s race is also heavily criticized.

Take off into orbit on earth with our space hype pinboard!

Our photographers, who have taken up the space hype and integrated it into their productions, do a better job – climate-friendly and earthbound. These images of astronauts on earth have what it takes to give campaigns that special something. There are good reasons for this.

PIONEERING SPIRIT AND FREEDOM

This incredible cosmic voyage of discovery, the departure into space, stands for pioneering spirit and adventure like hardly any other theme. It fits well with our current social situation: with the loosening of the Corona measures, we have begun to rediscover our freedom, and many of us have gained a new perspective on the possibilities and adventure of life. And that can sometimes feel like you’ve landed in a new world (or on a new star, for that matter).

RESEARCH FOR A BETTER FUTURE

Since we entered orbit for the first time, we associate space travel with the idea of gaining new knowledge and thus improving humankind. It’s a team job showcasing what humanity can achieve when we put differences aside. The internationally crewed ISS space station symbolizes the cooperation of nations in the interest of the greater cause. However, the criticism of the Starlink satellites also gives us pause to consider whether we should not instead transfer some of our cosmic endeavors to Earth: Right now, in the fight against climate change, we are dependent on precisely this pioneering spirit and exploratory drive that has been concentrated primarily in space travel. After all, it’s all about safeguarding the existence of the generations that will come after us. The heroes of this story are often the astronauts, many of whom are top-class researchers and scientists.

PLANNING AND EFFICIENCY

Astronaut time – the term used to describe a person’s time in space – is precious because flying to the stars is one of the most expensive endeavors of all. That’s why it is billionaires who have fueled the current space hype. This means that the precious time in space must be precisely timed to be used optimally. On the ISS, for example, up to 300 experiments are carried out in six months by just one astronaut. Space travel thus stands for efficiency and planning like hardly any other industry.

There are many good reasons to use astronauts as advertising heroes. Combined with a clever idea, they provide eye-catchers for first-class campaigns. Send your mind on a space journey and let yourself be inspired by our selection of astronaut images. We have summarized three productions of our photographer Eugenio Marongiu on a pinboard. Have fun with this earthly interstellar picture journey!
